SPIRITUALITY IN EUROPE

This interdisciplinairy research program focuses on showcasing the present religious diversity and connectedness in the European Union through the Religion Today photo book and exhibitions of photographer Eddy Seesing.

The exhibition will be presented at Comenius Museum Naarden, Ikonenmuseum Kampen (NL) and at Evangelische Akademie Bad Boll (DE).
Religion Today aims to create more understanding of and tolerance towards other religions and aims to arouse a cross-cultural awareness of the diversity of religion and religious freedom throughout Europe and its member states.

The exhibitions indeed focus on the persistence of religious practices and rituals throughout Europe in order to show that, despite this secular age, religion still acquires a position in the public realm. The project therefore aims at showing the plurality of religions today as well as attaining an intellectual understanding of religion and its practices today.

Religion Today will connect and educate people about the diversity and freedom of religion in the European Union.
Religion Today will contribute to the creation of more tolerance between religious groups in Europe through showing the audience that religious communities are more similar than one might have expected. After visiting the exhibition one should be more aware of other religious groups and their rituals and ceremonies, and feel that they too are part of the modern European society.
